  • In 1983, after undergoing extensive renovation, the College’s art building was renamed the Olive Tjaden Building in honor of Olive Tjaden Van Sickle ’25, a pioneering female architect and graduate of the college. In addition, the newly-created gallery in Tjaden was named the Olive Tjaden Gallery. Van Sickle, who died in March 1997, financed the renovation of Tjaden and the creation of the gallery.
