At the present time, it has been a great honor to be involved in Dr. Scanlon’s Plant Genome project. The project, funded by the National Science Foundation, is national collaborative effort aimed at understanding the function of shoot apical meristems (SAMs). Since Dr Scanlon is the project’s Principal Investigator, I am more than happy to learn from him and assist him in his research. During my new appointment period at Scanlon lab, my duties will include three main research projects in corn, an agriculturally important crop plant: (1) Laser microdissection eQTL analyses of SAM architecture; (2) expression analyses of NS-mediated mediolateral leaf development; and (3) reverse genetic analyses of SAM function.
