WCMC-Q strives to further Cornell's commitment to excellence in teaching, research, patient care, and the art and science of medicine, and to support the work of the Qatar Foundation in serving the community by training the physicians of tomorrow and planning to research medical problems of concern in the region.
The college offers a six-year program divided into a two-year nondegree Pre-Medical Program, and a four-year Medical Program leading to a Cornell University medical degree (M.D.). Each program is based on the same admissions standards and curriculum as those of Cornell University, with teaching by Cornell faculty, and each has a separate admissions process. Classes in the Pre-Medical Program, which focuses on the sciences basic to medicine, began in September 2002. The Medical Program began in 2004, and the first M.D. degrees are expected to be awarded by 2008.
