I serve as the Director of the National Beef Cattle Evaluation Consortium and as such am involved in several genetics projects associated with beef cattle. These include the genetics of cattle health, cattle reproduction, and stayability.
For 28 years, I taught Introductory Animal Genetics. This course will now be taught by a new faculty hire. I will assist in the new version of this course and will create an upper-level animal genetics course in the future. This past year, I participated in a distance-education program offered through Virgina Tech University to graduate students at six other institutions in the U.S. This course was part of a program sponsored by a USDA Challenge in Higher Education Grant.
