This minor graduate field is intended to provide both broad and specific training in the rapidly evolving area of genomics. Students can choose from two core courses (BioGD 400 -- A Genomics approach to studying Life and BioGD 401 -- Genomic Analysis) which provide overviews of genomic approaches to the study of Life, and the technologies underlying such studies. A series of one-credit modules will be offered that target specific areas relevant to genomics, such as large-scale gene expression analysis, genome modulation, bioinformatics, proteomics, gene/trait mapping, transgenesis, and model organisms. Certain existing courses will qualify towards the minor requirement of two modules. In some cases, one of the two required core courses will be waived in consideration of the applicants experience and major field coursework.
